Treating children with CranioSacral Therapy is a delicate business. Children move and using this hands on therapy with children requires that the therapist “goes with the flow”. There are many levels of training that can be obtained through the Upledger Institute. The first two levels of training provide you with the basics: a ten step protocol that helps to balance the CranioSacral system then the second level teaches the mouth work needed to complete the structural releases affecting this system. After this point the training leads into SomatoEmotional Release as part of CranioSacral Therapy. This part of the work helps to release areas of the body holding onto the past traumas that we are all subject to.
Training in pediatrics helps the therapist become aware of issues specific to childhood and childbirth. Therapists studying at this level learn to bring to the clinical setting the sensitivity required to treat infants and children with respect. To learn more about this training visit www.upledger.com and to learn what level of training the therapist you are considering has attained visit Find a Practitioner at: http://www.iahp.com/pages/search/index.php.
